Card for My Daddy :)

I made this for my dad whose welding business has reached it's 15th anniversary. I was pretty happy to find a silhouette design that represented some of the ornamental gates that my dad has made over the years. I also love that I still had some 'hardware' brads to use that complements this card perfectly.

Try and Try Again

i told myself i'd stay away from making more bags since i messed up real bad the last time i attempted to make one. but i really LOVE this alexander henry fabric and i really wanted to make something else out of it at a slightly higher skill level. so i challenged myself to another bag, taking my time to study the pattern and sew carefully. this actually came out better than i thought :) so my bag-making confidence is now restored and i guess i shall try other bag patterns in the future.

i would probably add some interfacing and maybe more embellishments, but i like the whole 'less is more' concept and that the beautiful fabric speaks for itself.

Overcoming Zipper Anxiety

Don't laugh...I've never sewn on a zipper before because I secretly was afraid of them! For some reason, I thought it was too complicated (or maybe I just wasn't comfortable learning how to sew on functional embellishments). But you know what? It actually wasn't that bad! Yay! So I started off small and simple, and made a coinpurse/keychain. It came out looking pretty decent. I think I'm ready to have zippers in my life for good :p

Silhouette Projects

ah, PAPER. it has always been my first love. i started off crafting as a 'traditional' scrapbooker, completing a bunch of albums and cards along the way. but then i discovered SHUTTERFLY.com and switched to digital scrapbooks. THEN i got caught up in the baking and sewing...and almost forgot about the first type of media that started it all for me. (sigh!) paper STILL and will always have this special place in my heart no matter what new craft trend comes along.

anywho, i've been meaning to make something with my silhouette with supplies i already had on hand while still trying to get used to the controls. a few ruined papers later, i think i can finally say that i am now a proud silhouette convert! the designs are soo cute and can be purchased online like itunes. so far, ive only used it to make cards.

i made this wedding card using mostly patterned paper and an ink pad. the part that bugs me is adhering on the delicate lettering. ive been using spray adhesive (and it works well!) but it's messy if you're not careful and it gets all over your fingers.

i'd like to say that this is a very 'modern' wedding card because of the man and woman and the colors i used. i really like how this turned out :)
